U.S. to upgrade volcano, earthquake monitoring
The United States and its territories have 169 active volcanoes, and 54 of them need improved monitoring so scientists can warn the public about explosive disruptions, alert aircraft to ash clouds and inform communities of falling ash, lava and mud flows. March 22 eruption of the Mount Redoubt volcano, 106 miles southwest of Anchorage, Alaska, showed the need for adequate monitoring. When the Redoubt volcano erupted 19 years ago, a Boeing 747 passenger airliner flew into its ash cloud and nearly crashed.

Volcanoes are interesting Landforms
Volcanoes
Volcanoes are interesting landforms. Volcanoes are good and bad in a way. They destroy everything in their path. A volcano can make the soil fertile. They can alto form islands. Volcanoes can be underwater or on land. The lava in the volcano is really hot. Volcanoes are cool!
Volcanoes are interesting landforms. Volcanoes are good and bad. Volcanoes can make good farmland and destroy everything in their path. Volcanoes are so hot they can roast a hotdog in one second. Magma is melted rock. It can form islands. When the mantle breaks the magma hits the cold air and turns into rocks. Volcanoes are really neat!
Volcanoes are interesting landforms! They can be good because they make rich fertile soil or they can be bad and destroy everything in their path. When lava spills over the walls of the volcano it cools and forms rocks. Volcanologists are so brave they actually go down in the volcanoes. Magma is hot melted rock. Magma comes out of the volcano and spills into the ocean. When it cools it forms an island, but before the lava cools it is so hot you could toast a hotdog in seconds. Volcanoes are so fantastic. I wish I could be a volcanologist someday.
Volcanoes are interesting landforms. Volcanoes help the earth by making new soil. And plant life grows a lot. They make new islands. So it makes the Earth a lot bigger. Volcanologists study volcanoes after the eruptions happen. And it is a perfect job. Volcanoes are totally radical!
Volcanoes are very interesting landforms. They can be above or inside water. When pressure raises the mantle breaks and the lava flows out. The pieces of rock flow with the lava. It explodes and rock begins to make the island. Volcanoes are good and bad. They are good because the soil around the volcano is very fertile. It helps farmers grow crops. They are bad because they destroy everything in their path and it takes years to renew soil. The volcano is so hot you can toast a hotdog in one second! Wow! now that’s hot. Volcanoes are really dangerous!
