A SATELLITE, Cartosat-2A, will be launched by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), which would be equipped with high-resolution cameras and advanced scientific instruments.
This remote sensing satellite would be used for the development plans for the urban as well as rural.
The chairman, G Madhavan, while giving a speech in Bangalore, said that the exact time would be finalised in a few days keeping in mind the weather factor and other datas. The satellite Cartosat-2A, weighing around 680kgs, can also be used for intelligence gathering. It would be placed in a polar orbit at an altitude of 391miles. The satellite would be launched from Sriharikota Space Station by a Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle. The satellite would be having a camera, which would be very much capable of providing scene specific spot imaginaries for cartographic and other applications. Along with the satellite, the PSLV will have a Third World Satellite (TWSAT) and eight other nano satellites.
TWSAT would be accompanying the nano satellites and would be the first satellite in the micro satellite series capable to provide platform for carrying space science, ocean studies etc, revealed sources.
Moreover, TWSAT will be equipped with a multi-spectral camera and will be generating data, which will be transmitted to user terminals. Sources further revealed that the data would be provided without any cost to universities, institutions and research organisations.
